Road Map

Kowanj is a place where you, as a candidate, will be prepared for employment through our customised pre-employment, pre-training, and mentoring programs in a relaxed and friendly environment. We will work with you to build your confidence, empower and get you job-ready. We will look over your experience and qualifications and set pathways for you to enter the workforce.​

 

Our head office is based in North Melbourne, a short walk from North Melbourne Railway Station, making it easy for job seekers who do not drive or hold licenses to find us easily.​ We offer all the necessary facilities and support to provide peace of mind during training and employment.

 

Our goal is to create a place where people can feel free to express themselves in a culturally appropriate manner.

Candidate Assessment

In the Candidate Assessment stage, we focus on understanding each individual’s unique background, skills, and career aspirations. Through personalized interviews and evaluations, we identify strengths and areas for growth, creating a tailored roadmap for their journey. This personalized approach ensures that every participant feels valued and empowered to pursue their career goals with confidence.

Development - Ready for Work Training

The Development stage provides essential training to equip candidates with the skills needed for today’s job market. Our Ready for Work Training includes interactive workshops on resume writing, interview techniques, and effective workplace communication. Participants engage in practical exercises that build confidence and resilience, ensuring they are ready to step into their next opportunity with a strong foundation.

Practical Learning Programs or Accredited Courses

In this stage, candidates have the option to participate in practical learning programs or pursue accredited courses tailored to their interests. These programs offer hands-on experience and industry-specific training, enhancing employability and ensuring participants acquire the skills that employers seek. Whether it’s a short course or a longer accredited qualification, we provide the support needed to excel in their chosen field.

Job Placement

Once participants have developed their skills, we assist them in finding meaningful employment through our Job Placement stage. Our dedicated team connects candidates with employer partners who understand their unique backgrounds and abilities. We work closely with job seekers to match them with opportunities that align with their skills and career goals, facilitating a smooth transition into the workforce.

Post Placement Support

After securing a job, our commitment to participants continues with Post Placement Support. We offer ongoing guidance and resources to help individuals navigate their new roles and address any challenges that arise. This support includes regular check-ins, mentorship, and access to additional training, ensuring that they thrive in their positions and achieve long-term career success.

Accredited Certificates

English Certificate I, II & III

The English Certificate programs (I, II, and III) offer structured language training to improve proficiency across all levels. Participants enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, preparing them for everyday communication and further education. These certificates build a strong foundation for personal and professional development.

English Class

Early Childhood Education & Care Certificate III

The Early Childhood Education & Care Certificate III equips participants with essential skills for a rewarding career in childcare. This program covers child development, care practices, and safety protocols, providing hands-on experience in educational settings. Graduates are prepared to support children's growth and learning in various environments.

Teacher and Pupil

Individual Support Certificate III

The Individual Support Certificate III trains participants to provide compassionate care for individuals in various settings, including aged care and disability support. The program emphasizes person-centered care, communication skills, and practical techniques for supporting clients’ needs. Graduates are equipped to make a positive impact in their communities through dedicated support services.

Practical Learning Programs

Cultural Awareness Training

Cultural Awareness Training enhances understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures, particularly focusing on African cultural perspectives. Capaciuty Building Program

The Capacity Building Program is designed to empower individuals from disengaged, disadvantaged, and marginalized communities through structured sessions focused on personal and professional development. Participants are encouraged to envision a better future, discover their true purpose, and address personal barriers with mentoring and guidance. This holistic approach equips individuals with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in the workforce and create positive change in their lives.

Job Ready Programs

The Pathways to Employment Job Ready Programs offer tailored support for individuals facing barriers to employment, with options like New Horizon, SkillUpNow, and SkillFit. Each program is designed to build essential skills, enhance employability, and boost confidence, ensuring participants are prepared for meaningful work. By providing job-specific training and personal development, these programs empower individuals to successfully reintegrate into the workforce.

The Fresh Start Transformation Program

The Fresh Start Transformation Program supports ex-offenders in reintegrating into the workforce by offering industry-specific training, career counselling, and essential employability skills development. Participants benefit from personalized guidance and mental health support to navigate the challenges of reentry. This program empowers individuals to rebuild their lives and pursue meaningful career opportunities.

Construction Site Managers

Job-Specific EAL Program

The Job-Specific EAL Program is a 26-week accredited English course tailored to equip participants with language skills relevant to their chosen industry. By focusing on industry-specific vocabulary, grammar, and communication techniques, the program enhances employability and prepares individuals for effective workplace interactions. Participants improve their reading, writing, and speaking abilities, increasing their chances of success in the job market.
